CPS card challenge CPS117

Its Saturday!!!

Finally, I have been super busy at work this week, just returning from vacation is always a challenge for me, as my work just piles up while I am away!
Anyway, I was able to put together my card for the challenge over at CPS last night....I found a new site this week for digital images, I am starting to really like these, and decided to use it on this challenge. This image came from Dustin Pike's site http://dustinpike.blogspot.com/
I colored the image with my Copics and designed my own backround paper using a combination of 2 Papertrey Ink stamp sets...the starfish is from one of their newest sets A Day at the Beach and the shovel is from a set released a few months ago from Love Songs.

As you can probably tell, I really like the PTI stamps, they offer so much versatility and allow your creativity to just run wild! The ribbon, I colored with my Copics to match the paper..since I didn't have any ribbon that I thought matched close enough! Thats another thing I have recently discovered about the Copics, you can color almost anything to match your design! I just love that! I have begun purchasing a lot of embellishments in white so I can color them! I guess you could say I am saving money!!! at least that's what I will tell my husband!

Ok, so enough rambling this morning....Thanks for looking and have a great Saturday!!!

2 Card Challenges today!

I have to say, I was totally inspired by vicklyn http://paperhugs.blogspot.com/who posted a card on her blog that met "10" challenges...so I decided I had to do better than just 1 challenge a card...so I think this one meets "2"....
Stamps and Smiles SASSC17 http://sasthefreshbatch.blogspot.com/, and Cupcake Craft Challenge #41 2-2-2 http://cupcakecraftchallenges.blogspot.com/.

I don't normally do super bright cards, but when I saw the "free" digital paperpack on the Stamping Out Alzheimers web page I just had to use it! It is so pretty! Please drop by the SOA page and check out what they are doing to raise money for Alzheimers! Its a great cause, so donate and receive this great paper pack as well as some other great downloadable items.http://stampinoutalzheimers.ning.com/
Anyway, I like this card a lot! I might just start using some brighter colors more often! The stamp set is the a new release from Papertrey Ink, and the ribbon is from SU.
Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Nolan's preschool graduation

2nd post for the day..... My grandson, Nolan, had his preschool graduation last night....hard to believe he will be starting kindergarten next year! I can't believe I have grandchildren going into first grade and one going into kindergarten! Where does the time go? It seems like yesterday my girls were going off to 1st grade and kindergarten...

My parents and I attended the graduation, here are a few photos of the event...

I purchased a gift for Nolan to give his teacher, Ms. Mullis. I purchased 2 tealight holders, they were square and very pretty. I needed to find just the right gift box to put them in, but I couldn't find one. So I created one myself! What do you think?

I like how it turned out, and I think Ms. Mullis liked it also...

I decided to design my paperclip bookmark around the idea of relaxing and reading books...so that meant sipping some tea and reading...so I thought the PTI Tea Time stamp set would fit perfectly.

I can't wait to sit down and read a book so I can use my new bookmark!

The Recipe:

Paper: SU Designer Paper and chipboard

Stamps: PTI Tea Time

Happy Mothers Day!

I hope everyone had a wonderful mothers day! My was very relaxing...thank you to my wonderful daughters for the beautiful cards.

I created a card today that felt a little out of place on such a nice spring day, as it is a christmas card. Over at SNR The Card Universe, they have created a Holiday Challenge group and they issued the first challenge on Saturday.
The challenge was to create a christmas card as easy as 1..2..3...

1 ribbon
2 non traditional colors
3 bling items

So, this is what I came up with! I don't know if you can see the 3 bling items, it is on the end of the sleigh..the 2 non tradational colors are PTI Ocean Tides and Black....I thru in some DT paper from Basic Grey that had many colors that were non traditional....I really like the sleigh stamp, I purchased it a few years ago and really never got around to using it! I may use this layout for my massive production of christmas cards this year...I will probably change the colors to more traditional ones, but the same idea...

Stamps and Smiles Challenge SASMR4 and Project Tuesday combined

Well, today is the final day previewing the new releaseses over at Stamps and Smiles! It sure has been a fun week! Since I participated in all the challenges, I was able to get all my Mother's Day cards and gifts completed with time to spare! Wow! Thanks Stamps and Smiles for helping me this week!

This genie bag is from their Tuesday Project challenge and the final challenge SASMR4. Since I had all my Mother's day cards and projects completed, I was able to make a special bag for a special friend who's birthday is coming up!

I took the genie bag idea and changed it up a bit, changing it from a rectangle bag to a round bag! It was pretty simple to do, and I really like how it turned out! I will be making this one again!

Make sure you hop on over to Stamps and Smiles first blog hop tonight, starting at 9PM Central time....I'm sure it will be loads of fun! http://stampsandsmiles.blogspot.com/.

Friday Baking with NotQuiteJuneCleaver

During my daily surfing of the web, I came across this fantistic blog, Friday Baking with NotQuiteJuneCleaver, http://notquitejunecleaver.com/. Susan is hosting a "Friday Baking" where she will post a recipe to try.

This week it was Strawberry Milkshake Whopper Marshmallow Cake....sounded interesting..so off I went to the grocery to purchase the ingredients I didn't have and began my journey...

Susan is also offering a "giveaway" at the end of the week to all who play with her and try this new recipe and post pictures to their blog documenting the journey thru the creating process.
So, we had some friends over on Saturday night to celebrate the Kentucky Derby..so I thought this would be the perfect time to try this yummy cake!
Here are the ingredients I started with...

Then I began the mixing process...

Added some red food coloring....

And finally...in the pans.....

Now while this baked, I started on the icing!

Ingredients for the Marshmellow Icing....

I crushed some Strawberry Malt Balls......
And whipped up the icing.....
Ready to decorate the cake......

I tried to make sure the cake didn't get tooo messy...but, well, not so much...

I put some waxpaper under the cake to help me clean up the mess I made.....so when the wax paper was removed....

Not so bad! Tasted Great, everyone enjoyed eating this yummy cake after drinking Mint Julips and eating Kentucky Hot Browns to celebrate the Kentucky Derby!
Thanks for looking, and I can't wait until next Friday....when I can try a new recipe!
